3rd Grade Lead Teacher
Julia was raised by two educators in Southern California. Her early years instilled her with a life-long love of education and teaching. She began tutoring in high school and worked as a writing tutor and TA at the college level. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts from UC Santa Cruz where she double majored in Feminist Studies and Creative Writing, she moved to Los Angeles and began working in schools as a Teaching Associate. She earned her Masters of Education from UCLA’s Teacher Education Program in 2014. Her graduate work deepened her commitment to inquiry-driven education and the power of schools as spaces for positive social change. She was a founding staff member of Citizens of the World, Mar Vista where she taught first grade for four years. Julia was drawn to CWC’s constructivist approach and its dedication to diversity. Julia is passionate about empowering young people through authentic, real-world applications to learning. She is thrilled to be teaching third grade and joining the team at CWC Hollywood. When she isn’t in the classroom, Julia can be found gardening, cooking, crafting, listening to podcasts, watching something funny or some combination of those.
