Lottery Info for the 2021-22 School Year
If the number of students who wish to attend CWC-H exceeds the number of seats available, students are admitted by random public drawing (also known as a lottery) in accordance with Education Code §47605(d)(2).
You must submit your application to Citizens of the World Hollywood through the APPLYLA SITE. Applications must be submitted by our application deadline, February 10, 2021, in order for your child to be included in the lottery. Applications received after the deadline will be added to the waitlist in the order received. Filling out our application does not guarantee your child’s enrollment in this school. Please note that timely submission of all paperwork, including proof of address, will be required if your child is selected for enrollment through our lottery process.
Per our CWC Hollywood charter, the following preferences shall be given in the lottery:
- Students residing within the boundaries of the Los Angeles Unified School District. CWCH provides a weighted preference (2:1) for in district applicants residing within LAUSD boundaries.
- Siblings of students currently enrolled at CWC Hollywood. Siblings are defined as any two students who share a legal parent / guardian.
- Children of a current CWC Hollywood staff member
- Children of a current member of the CWC Los Angeles Board of Directors
- Children of the Founding Parents of CWC Hollywood (not to exceed 10% of total enrollment).*
- Students who qualify for free or reduced price lunch (for more information, visit http://www.cde.ca.gov/ls/nu/rs/scales1415.asp).
*(CWC-H is no longer accepting Founding Parents. These were established prior to the founding of our school in 2009-2010.)
Please note that if you are extended an offer for enrollment through one of the preference above, you will need to provide supporting documentation in the enrollment packet to accept the enrollment offer. A verification of this will be done prior to finalizing your child’s enrollment. If your child was offered enrollment via a preference and CWC Hollywood deems that the child does not qualify, your child will be placed on the waiting list.
Within two weeks of the initial lottery, families will be contacted via email and/or phone with the lottery results, which will include your child’s waitlist number (if applicable). Those families will have 2 weeks to respond and accept or turn down the space offered. Any spaces that become available will be offered to the next family on the waiting list until the class is full. Be advised that the time to respond and accept or turn down a space offered ranges from 2 weeks for the first round of accepted applicants (immediately after the lottery) and reduces to 72 hours for subsequent rounds and then 24 hours when the start of school approaches (after August 1st).
