Sara Bohnsack grew up in Cleveland, Ohio before moving to New York City to attend The New School as a first-generation college student. After she received her Masters in Elementary Education from Brown University, Sara moved to Los Angeles. She spent a year as a first-grade teaching assistant before becoming a founding 3rd grade teacher at CWC. In this role, Sara helped develop curriculum for math, reading, writing, and integrated science and social studies units with her team. After teaching 3rd grade for several years, she transitioned to her current role as the 5th grade social studies teacher.
Sara is passionate about teaching young people about media literacy, identity, historical thinking, and social emotional skills. Helping students better understand the process and power of writing is one of her favorite parts of teaching. Sara has attended both the Reading and Writing Summer institutes at Teachers College Reading and Writing Project. She is a NSRF certified Critical Friends Group facilitator and is honored to be part of this professional learning community with her colleagues.
