Karen Fenswick grew up in Seattle, Washington, and began her work with students in children’s dance and theater. She earned her degree in Interdisciplinary Child Development and teaching certification from Western Washington University’s Woodring College of Education. She’s spent much of her twelve-year classroom career working with charter schools in Los Angeles, including Ocean Charter, using a variety of teaching methods including Arts Integrated education, Project Approach, and Constructivist pedagogies. She is also trained in Community Choir Leadership through the Ubuntu Choirs network—a global network of choirs and musicians dedicated to choral singing as a community practice. Karen is returning from adventures in the Pacific Northwest and teaching at The Emerson School in Portland, Oregon. She is delighted to be back in Los Angeles, returning to the learning family that is CWC Hollywood. She is excited to reconnect to this community–where learning takes place in a spirit of imagination, curiosity, compassion, and world citizenship. In her free time, she loves spending time with her husband and their two goofy cats, swimming, and singing with community groups.
