Social Emotional Learning Coordinator and K/1 Coach
Jessica is a true Southern California native, as she was raised in Culver City and attended CCUSD schools from K-12. In 2009 She received her BA in Theatre from the University of Southern California, which paved the road for her work with kids in a surprising way. After working at the Culver-Palms Family YMCA as a day camp counselor and membership manager, she became a Playworks Coach at CWC Hollywood. From 2011-2014. Coach Jessie implemented and developed an inclusive youth fitness program at CWCH, which infused learning about peacemaking, inclusion, conflict resolution and cooperation into play. In addition to teaching Class Game Time as an enrichment class, she provided a structured recess for all grade levels, supported the After School Program, and piloted the Junior Coach Peacemaking & Leadership Program for grades 3-5. She spent the 2014-15 year as a student of UCLA’s Teacher Education Program, with a focus on social justice. Her background in theatre, fitness, and education give her a unique perspective on working with children, and she is beyond excited to return to CWCH this fall to further develop the socio-emotional learning and positive culture of this amazing community.
