3rd - 5th Grade Resource Specialist Teacher
Born and raised in Seattle, Jennifer graduated from Santa Barbara High School, received her Bachelor of Science from UCLA and her Education Specialist Credential from CSULA. Having taught in a variety of secondary and elementary settings, Jennifer is now entering her tenth year as an educator.
When it comes to teaching, Jennifer values collaborating as a team to put children first throughout the academic process and foster active participation as they develop into lifelong learners. Supporting students who learn differently inspires Jennifer’s creative use of high interest instructional techniques including constructive, project-based, discovery and e-learning modalities. She regularly interfaces with colleagues and families to integrate individual student goals and supports into classroom lessons and engage learners in problem solving, self-inquiry and critical thinking.
Some of her tried and true teaching strategies include kinesthetic movement activities, tactile or visual sensory techniques, social interactive, cooperative learning, and good old-fashioned humor! Jennifer believes all children have their own unique way of contributing to the classroom and school community, and feels richly rewarded when supporting students who need a little bit more attention and concern in order to succeed. Her favorite part of teaching is when students develop a love for learning and a feeling of success every day. At the end of the day, Jennifer enjoys hiking, gardening, watching a beautiful sunset, and sharing time with family and friends.
