Caitlyn Havis

2nd Grade Lead Teacher

Ms. Havis loves being a part of the CWC community of educators.  She enjoys being a part of a progressive charter school that shares her educational philosophy.  After two years just outside of the Los Angeles area, where she taught at a school with a similar philosophy around building constructivist curriculum, she was thrilled to find an opportunity to move back closer to her loved ones.

Caitlyn completed her BA in Psychology at UC Santa Cruz and her graduate studies in education at Cal State Northridge.  During her studies at UCSC Caitlyn worked in the classroom as a paraprofessional and volunteered for a summer to aid in English instruction in Costa Rica.  Caitlyn was a long term substitute at MATES before moving into her own classroom at Sycamore Academy of Science and Cultural Arts in Riverside County where she taught K/1 for two years.  Caitlyn brings knowledge of music and singing to the classroom and has been trained in elementary music education through the American Orff-Schulwerk Assoc.  Her interest in professional development and love of learning are apparent by her attendance at the Constructivist Conference in New York, Leading Edge: Learning through Academic and Real Life Challenges trainings, EdCamp LA, and numerous others.  Outside of school, Caitlyn is an avid reader, enjoys singing, musicals, and loves hiking with her puppies Jax and Gunner.
