Caitlyn Havis

2nd Grade Lead Teacher

Ms. Havis, or Caitlyn, loves being a part of the CWC community of educators. She enjoys being a part of a progressive charter school that shares her educational philosophy of designing constructivist based curriculum that offers each student a differentiated education to develop them into lifelong learners and global citizens.

Caitlyn completed her BA in Psychology at UC Santa Cruz and her graduate studies in education at Cal State Northridge. During her studies at UCSC Caitlyn worked in the classroom as a paraprofessional and volunteered for a summer to aid in English instruction in Costa Rica. Caitlyn was a long term substitute at MATES in Thousand Oaks before moving into her own classroom at Sycamore Academy of Science and Cultural Arts in Riverside County where she taught K/1 for two years. She was thrilled to move to 2nd grade at CWC Hollywood in 2013. Caitlyn brings knowledge of music and singing to the classroom and has been trained in elementary music education through the American Orff-Schulwerk Assoc. Her interest in professional development and love of learning are apparent by her attendance at the Constructivist Conference in New York, Leading Edge: Learning through Academic and Real Life Challenges trainings, EdCamp LA, Growing Educators, University of San Diego Extension and numerous other professional development opportunities. She has been an active member of the CWC community taking on leadership roles as the Reading Intervention Coordinator, WASC Coordinator, and a Clear Credential Program Mentor Teacher.

Outside of school, Caitlyn is an avid reader, enjoys singing, musicals, and loves hiking and camping with her husband and puppies: Jax, Raven, and Gunner.
