3rd-5th Grade Resource Specialist Teacher
Angel Vasquez was born and raised in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles. He received a BA in English and MFA in Creative Writing: Fiction from Saint Mary’s College of California (in the SF Bay Area). He was an adjunct faculty member at Ashford University, teaching Intro to English Literature and Composition II. However, he was not fond of the for-profit education industry, so he walked away. Rather than seeking another higher ed opportunity, he opted to work at an elementary school in Oakland Unified School District, teaching Writing, Science/Engineering, and Spanish in an afterschool program. He also worked with struggling readers in first and second grade. He returned to Saint Mary’s College to earn a credential in Special Education and was a middle school Resource Specialist in Oakland Unified before moving back home to Los Angeles and joining the CWC Hollywood team.
Angel also holds a certificate from Berklee College of Music in Rock, Rhythm and Blues Guitar. His hobbies include playing electric bass and guitar in various bands, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, backpacking/camping, fostering kittens, cleaning the litter box, and never writing that book he has been thinking about since graduate school.
