2nd – 5th Grade Visual Arts Teacher
Ms. Koehler grew up in Texas and moved to California in 2003 to attend Pitzer College where she spent a semester abroad in Ecuador and earned her B.A. with a triple major in Studio Art, Spanish, and International/Intercultural Studies. After graduating, she found her passion for teaching through AmeriCorps in Los Angeles. She earned her Multiple-Subject Teaching Credential from Antioch University Los Angeles, where she focused on using the arts as a cornerstone for interdisciplinary, project-based education. Before joining CWC, Ms. Koehler was the K-5 Visual Art and 4th-5th GATE Teacher at the NEW Academy of Science and Art for five years. She created an interdisciplinary visual art curriculum emphasizing cross-curriculum connections and diversity in technique and inspiration. Her goal is to bring the world to her classroom through art and to help students to engage creatively on interpersonal and intrapersonal levels. Allison is delighted to join the creative, collaborative community at CWC. She is excited to be a part of a team with the shared goal to help students develop into life-long learners through a project based, constructivist model. Outside of work Allison enjoys spending time with loved ones, baking pies for her book club, and outdoor adventures.
